The Green Man Inn is a country Public House and Hotel in the small rural village of Fownhope, just outside Hereford. It dates back to 1485 the first year of the reign of Henry V11.This former coaching Inn is home to many ghostly occupants who appear to enjoy teasing and tormenting the staff. The Assistant Manager of the Inn once claimed a spirit locked him out of the Inn and on another occasion locked him inside the cellar with ghostly hands that turned the key in the lock.
This Inn was also once known to have been the site of many court sessions in the 18th and 19th century.
A rather disturbing ghostly sighting of a man in shackles has been seen walking here.
Many criminals sent to this court site would have been put in shackles and held in the cells,so the sightings of this ghost is perhaps a glimpse of the Inns terrifying past. Mediums have picked up on a
man standing in one of the haunted bedrooms holding a long bladed knife. A brave guest who wants to spend the night in bedroom 3 may join the long list of visitors who have fled in terror from its
ghostly occupants and the mysterious moving mirror! So why not join us at this eerie Inn conducting seances and glass moving and table tipping.
You will also get the chance to use our paranormal equipment during the night and if you are feeling brave enough you will also get the chance to go off on your own or with your friends to do your
own little investigation. Please remember to bring a torch!
